Todor Georgiev, Former COO of Traders Trust, Launches New Prop Firm Funded7

Todor Georgiev, a long-standing figure in the FX and CFDs space, has officially left his role as Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Traders Trust to launch a new prop trading firm: Funded7.

Georgiev joined Traders Trust in 2023, following a series of operational and compliance leadership roles at FXGlobe, Tixee, and Exness. His departure marks the latest in a growing trend of traditional brokerage executives transitioning into the proprietary trading space.

From Compliance to Challenge Models

With the launch of Funded7, Georgiev enters the increasingly competitive world of challenge-based prop trading, where firms offer funded accounts to traders who pass performance evaluations. While Funded7's full business model has yet to be unveiled, it is expected to follow the popular evaluation-based format seen across the industry.

Georgiev now joins a list of brokerage veterans who have made the jump into prop trading, including:

  • Andreas Andreou, former CRO of BDSwiss and founder of thePropTrade

  • Giorgos Piskopianos, formerly of CMTrading, now at PropXP

  • James Glyde, ex-Spotware, who recently launched PipFarm

A Shifting Industry

The growing wave of brokerage-to-prop transitions reflects a shifting dynamic in retail trading. As regulation tightens and traders demand more flexible access to capital, the prop model is proving to be a fast-growing alternative to traditional brokerage services.

Whether Funded7 will position itself as a high-volume evaluation brand or aim to differentiate through tech or trader support remains to be seen — but with Georgiev’s background in operations and compliance, expectations are that the firm may place greater emphasis on structure and sustainability.
