OANDA Japan Cancels Dormant Accounts with No Balance

OANDA Japan, a subsidiary of global broker OANDA Corporation, has issued a notice regarding the cancellation of inactive client accounts.

According to the broker, any accounts that had not been traded in over two years and had no remaining balance were automatically canceled as of May 19, 2025, in line with Article 33 of the firm's OTC Derivatives Trading Terms and Conditions.

Impacted users will receive notification emails starting May 20. OANDA clarified that cancelled accounts cannot be reactivated. Users who wish to return to the platform will need to submit a new application and resubmit identification documents.

What this means for prop traders

For traders using OANDA Japan as an execution venue—either directly or via prop firm partnerships—this serves as a reminder to keep funded or connected accounts active, especially if they are part of ongoing evaluations or backup accounts.

While this policy targets only dormant accounts, props that offer OANDA as an option should be aware that inactive client profiles may be purged without prior notice, potentially affecting access or continuity if not monitored.
